PARALLEL COMICS

“Parallel Comics” is an anthology consisting of 12 distinct stories, each set in a different universe and written by different authors. However, to a reader, these stories meet under one cover becoming one journey. This inspired the cover idea: to illustrate the convergence of parallel lines. I wanted to depict that in this book, two plus two doesn’t necessary make four, and parallel lines can intersect at some point.
To portray the intersection of parallel lines, I used ebru, an ancient painting technique also known as paper marbling.

After transferring the patterns from water to paper, I scanned them and selected two fragments for the front and rear covers, which I then merged at the book spine:

The concept of intersecting parallel stories is reflected not only in the cover design but also on the pages of the book. I crafted spreads between the comics where one color blends with another, and the sketches from the previous comic mix with the next one.
